Speed will come into play, i know, but im just getting into it, so i figure one or two cheap 32gb cards will get me on my way. And now im out of the freelance race and just do photography for fun, i thought this would be something interesting to try. I'm gonna try my hand at some time lapse photography - as this has always interested me since i had watched Baraka like 15 years ago. I don't think i need speed as much as i need space. Im wondering if anyone here (probably not) has had any good luck with them? I'm looking for cheap but good 32gb memory cards and I see that Transcend is pretty cheap. But it is my understanding that video not only eats capacity, but also severely challenges transfer data rates. I don't do video, so I don't need fast stuff. And then make sure that you get a card that offers the speed that you require. So, you might wish to check to see if there are any reviews/lab tests on card speeds, and if so, how the Transcend compares. And unfortunately, not all cards are up to the speed written on the label. Today, speed and cost seem directly related. But they are probably more reliable than most other media, especially magnetic and optical-based. I can't comment on how SanDisk handles warranty repairs, because of the dozens of SanDisk cards I have, none have ever failed. I no longer trust Transcend, and I will not buy from them again. Of the four Transcend cards I have used, half of them had to be returned as defective. I find it hard to believe that they took a defective card that someone else had returned, and sent it to me as if it was a brand new card. As a photographer, I need to rely on my memory cards. In my opinion, this is an unacceptable way for a company to behave. Transcend re-packaged the defective card in a new box, and sent it to me as a warranty replacement. It appears that someone else had returned the card as defective. To my great surprise, the recovery program not only retrieved most of my images but also a stranger's vacation photos. I had problems with the replacement, and I ran a recovery program to retrieve my images.

When my Transcend card went bad, it took them months to send me a replacement. A good vendor will have a lower failure rate, and provide excellent support there is a problem. No matter what brand you buy, it's possible for a card to go bad.
